Adolescence is a great time to learn about healthy nutrition and embrace a low carbohydrate lifestyle. A low carb lifestyle re-energizes the metabolism and creates a healthy mood, mind, and body- which translates into healthier and happier kids!
My daughter Alexa, who lives a low-carb lifestyle, assisted in developing this Program for teens. This addition is so important in order to gain a full understanding of how to educate and support teens when it comes to dietary change and understanding how to make healthier choices.
In this podcast, I discuss how to help create a low carbohydrate lifestyle for the entire family. It is never too early for kids and teens (or too late for parents) to learn about what "eating healthy" actually means. I give some tips on how to start to create this lifestyle for the family.
This 2-part INDIVIDUAL or GROUP workshop will introduce the idea of metabolic health and low carb nutrition to teens. In Part I, teens will be educated about the effects of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals on the body, with a specific focus on processed foods and sugar. They will learn and understand what happens to their bodies when they eat these types of foods. The focus will be on the benefits of a low carb lifestyle such as clearer skin, better sleep, increased energy levels, improved mood, and better academic and athletic performance. Part II will be an interactive session where the kids will learn creative, fun, and easy ways to find lower-carb, healthier foods and snacks. A minimum of 3 kids is required for group sessions. Sessions last approximately 1 hour (45 minute presentation plus 15 minutes for questions/discussion). Cost: $250/person/group. $500/person/private. Parent attendance (at least sitting within an earshot) is required. The minimum age for attendance is 12 years old. In-person private or group sessions are also available in San Diego.
